The air in my home is very dry. My daughter has a respiratory condition, and she cannot tolerate the dry air. Her pediatrician recommended a humidifier. Our family has become accustomed to the humidity, but our furniture suffered. Much of my furniture warped over time. I consulted a local furniture retailer and explained the problem to him. He recommended teak furniture. He said that teak will withstand high amounts of humidity, because the wood originates from areas where humidity is high. Our entire home is furnished with teak now, and warped furniture is no longer a problem.
