The biggest problem with depression is how it affects the lives of those who live or work with the person with the condition; doctors now know there are various forms, each with its own individual characteristics. Even though there are number of types, they are all based around some issue in the life of the affected person that has never been resolved; naturally almost anyone can become depressed about certain aspects of their life. Usage of  wheelchairs is not uncommon to depressed people; some of them because of depression think that they no longer capable of ambulating unassisted. People who are depressed require specialized medical help with their condition and should seek it at an early stage; this help is needed to find out why you are depressed as this will eventually help finding a cure for the problem. It is difficult going through life and not experiencing sadness or feeling low but these things normally pass in time; usually these feelings subside after a short while and are not considered symptoms of depression. It is normal to have problems but it is how you deal with them that matters; as far as a person who is depressed is concerned: their problems have gone a stage further and need to be dealt with differently. In many incidences like this, a person believes that if they ignore the problem it will just resolve itself but this rarely happens; a person end up feeling more helpless than they did before, and it becomes a vicious circle that must be broken. Often the problem stems from a situation in the workplace which is unresolved or ongoing; a normal side effect of this condition can be a panic attack. Someone who is so depressed they are unable to even to carry out the most basic day to day tasks desperately needs to seek help; at which point a specialist counselor should be called in to resolve whatever conflict or issues exist. It is also possible that certain medications can cause chemical imbalances that create a feeling of depression; this is a problem for the person on medication especially where no external situation exists that could actually have caused the condition. There is a great deal of responsibility here on the person's doctor to keep a regular check on a patient who has been given medication where these symptoms can occur. A worse situation happens where despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the reason for the person's depression cannot be found; a doctor will need to delve deeper into the person's background. The difficulty is getting to person to admit to the problem in the first instance; if the sufferer does not believe the reason for the condition it is difficult to move forward. One type of is called Manic Depression although the correct term is Bipolar Disorder; unfortunately, new studies have found that owing to new overlap theories it can actually take up to five years before a person could be correctly diagnosed as suffering from this condition. Once a person has become depressed, it has reached a stage where they need help to overcome it but they must realize this for themselves if the treatment is too be successful. There is no point letting this condition run your life unless you enjoy the distress it causes you and those around you; starting medical treatment as early as possible will enable you to make those first steps to being free of its grip.
