We all love our annual vacation but there are those that never go too far from home and then you find the adventurous types that will travel the world. Whatever your travel interest is you will find a wealth of information online at numerous travel sites. Travel has become so easy that many people no longer even bother going to the travel agent and use websites exclusively to book their vacation. Generally travel agents cannot compete, at least financially, with the wealth of sites that can offer amazing discounts.

It may seem strange but I do not fully trust using the internet to arrange my vacation. While this may be the way to book your holiday now especially for the extremely wealthy elites who prefer traveling by  private jets  nowadays, I still enjoy sitting front of a real person and not a computer screen. With a travel agent, I can change my mind about my plans several times, call and ask questions, and have someone to blame should my vacation not turn out to be what I was hoping for. I have never found it easy dealing with travel sites especially when I want to have a discussion with someone before I make a decision on something; plus on the very rare occasion you manage to get through to a support line, they are not as helpful as someone sitting in front of you.

Even if you are lucky enough to talk to a person, how do you know they are telling you the truth about the situation? It is because of the number of things that can go wrong I still prefer to use my local travel agent even if it does take a little more time and there may be more to pay. I have a good friend who would never use a travel agent as she books all her last minute vacations using travel sites because she can save a packet of money. Admittedly, she has save a small fortune this way as she will just look at the sites and be patient until the right vacation comes up at the right price.

I wish I could do this but my work just wouldn't allow me to suddenly take time of as they normally need a couple of months notice. I don't doubt for one minute that by using a travel site can be less expensive as you can also get discounts on tours and car hire by booking this way. There are many advantages to using a travel site to book your travel or even do your research and I do use websites when researching where I would like to travel to, and for getting my facts together. I take that information and then see a travel agent because at least I know that if my vacation turns out to be a nightmare, I have someone to come back and yell at.
