First time Powerpoint user makes good
I was asked to make a presentation at a scientific conference in London on the research that my company has been making on nanotechnology. I was unsure which kind of audience that I would be presenting to, would they be academic or business orientated. I contacted the conference organizers and they sent me a list of the people and companies who would be attending the conference. Armed with that information, I arranged a meeting with our company’s marketing communication people who helped me make up a graphic presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint. I knew about this program, as it was part of the Office bundle, but I had never had the reason or opportunity to use it. I was amazed how simple yet versatile it was. We made up a very interesting Powerpoint presentation, yet the Marcom people told me not to be a slave to it. They gave me tips on how to work around the presentation, and even prepare myself in the event that there would be technical difficulties, and I would not be able to use the presentation. Fortunately this didn’t happen, and I think I left my audience pretty impressed. We have even had a couple of sales inquiries, even though the product is still in the development stages.
