Since the introduction of the Euro foreign currency the US dollar has been on a steady decline. Some argue that the Euro may replace the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Many petroleum based countries are staring to consider holding more of their reserves in currencies other than the US dollar. The decline in the dollar has prompted many countries to look at alternative ways to shift their US dollar reserves into other assets as a precaution against the decline in the US dollar.
