Bone imaging such as an x-ray or an MRI will be performed to see if there is a presence of any tumors in your body. If a tumor is found, a biopsy, or tissue sample will be taken to check if it is benign or malignant. This procedure can be done as a needle biopsy or a surgical biopsy, it all depends on the placement of the tumor and how easily maneuverable and easily accessible the tumor is. If your tumor is malignant, the first course of action is to remove the bone cancer and related tumors from the affected areas. After the tumor has been removed, a course or two of radiation or chemotherapy will be given and your chart will be reevaluated once your treatment is done to decide on other options.
