Carbon offsetting is a mechanism by which “bad” (for the environment)actions such as air travel, are offset by “good” actions such as planting trees, with responsibility for these offsetting actions taken both by corporate bodies and the public.
As climate change is attributed to the increase in carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere, caused in a large part by the huge volume of fossil fuel buring methods of transportation that we employ, finding ways to offset this pollution creation has become a priority. Individuals and companies can now calculate their carbon footprint - the amount of Carbon Dioxide production that can be attributed to their actions, and calculate the necessary actions required to offset it.
